For the third weekend in succession, ROKiT MB Motorsport will will start from the front row of the grid courtesy of a sublime performance by Jake Hill - maintaining the team’s 100% front-row record in 2022 as the BTCC took to the track at Thruxton.
An in-form Hill looked as competitive as ever during the morning’s free practice sessions, topping the second session after placing third in the opening session.Feeling confident heading into qualifying, Jake wasted little time in stamping his authority on the session by topping the timesheets early on.
With a flurry of fastest sectors being set throughout the field, the session was once again dominated by close margins. As the session entered its final phase, the BRDC SuperStar was forced to settle for second place bettered only by the Honda of Josh Cook with a slender margin of 0.077s.
Jake’s qualifying performance also means he retakes the lead of the Goodyear Wingfoot award - the award for the fastest qualifier throughout the course of the season.
“I’m really happy with the result today,” Jake said. “We’re really hitting our stride at the moment and making every session count. The lap times here are really close as always and you can’t separate us throughout the field. It’ll be flat out all the way and I’m sure we’ll have another strong showing.”
Mark Blundell, Sporting Director of ROKiT MB Motorsport added:
“It’s a great achievement to claim three consecutive front row starts and it’s testament to all of the hard work that the team is putting in. Jake drove excellently again today and the car looked dialled in from the get-go. The nature of this circuit means that tomorrow will no doubt be fast and exciting. I’m confident the team can add to its collection of silverware and bring home another strong haul of points.”
