The 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship enters its final stretch as ROKiT MB Motorsport head for Silverstone to contest the ninth, and penultimate, round of the season - with Jake Hill currently 4th in the Drivers' Championship.
Arriving at the Home of British Motorsport, ROKiT MB Motorsport are set to do battle on the 1.64 mile Silverstone National Circuit as the championship enters a crucial part of the season. The legendary circuit is one of the most famous racing circuits in the world, and last year saw Jake Hill and MB Motorsport secure victory in race three.
Last time out at Thruxton, Jake and the team enjoyed a healthy haul of points in round eight; scoring another top-three qualifying result before going on to record a brace of 4th place finishes and a 12th place finish.
Jake's impressive debut season in his WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, has seen the ROKiT MB Motorsport driver score two race victories, nine podium finishes, two pole positions, five front row starts, and four fastest laps. Jake's nine podium finishes have matched his most-ever in one season (2021), with six races still to contest.
Jake's strong qualifying form sees him top of the Goodyear Wingfoot Award - awarded to the driver with the best qualifying results across the season. Since the summer break, Jake’s 134 points are the joint-highest scored of all of the drivers.
Sitting 4th in the Drivers' Championship, Jake will have 4.5 seconds of Hybrid power to use per lap in qualifying, giving up to an additional 30bhp when deployed, then in race one, Jake will have the use of hybrid for 13 of the 22 laps. The amount of hybrid laps available for the remaining two races is then dependent on Jake’s finishing position in each of the previous races - the higher he finishes the fewer laps he will have to use in the subsequent race.
As the season enters its crucial points, Jake is excited for the challenge ahead.
“Our form since the summer break has been really strong, and we've picked up some good points which in turn, has put us in the position to fight for this championship. This weekend at Silverstone is really important, we want to be heading to the Brands Hatch finale in the best possible position to take the title and need a good points haul this weekend if we are to do that. I always love coming to Silverstone, whether it's watching or racing, and to be heading here in a BTCC championship fight makes it even more special. I can't wait to get underway!"
Mark Blundell, Sporting Director of ROKiT MB Motorsport, added:
“Our goal from the very start of the season was for the championship title, and to be heading to the penultimate round with that still in reach fills us with great motivation and excitement. Jake and the team have done a fantastic job all year, but now we need to go even further if we are to reach our target of a title. Jake won here last year, and has proven himself strong at circuits that might not favour the BMW, so I'm confident we can have a great weekend!"
