The ROKiT MB Motorsport team will head to North Yorkshire this week as the fifth round of the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship gets underway at Croft Circuit.
A happy hunting ground for MB Motorsport and Jake Hill in recent times, Jake has finished on the podium in four of the last six races he has competed at the 2.13-mile circuit - including MB Motorsport's maiden victory in the BTCC last year in 2021.
Traditionally a track that favours rear-wheel drive machinery, Jake heads to the circuit full of confidence having scored strong results in front-wheel-drive cars on his last two trips to the track. The North Yorkshire venue is renowned for its challenging, technical nature. Indeed, it is often regarded as the truest all-round test on the BTCC calendar.
Having scored one race victory, three second-place finishes, a pole position and two fastest laps - Jake currently occupies fifth place in the Drivers' Championship standings, with 119 points. His strong qualifying form has also rewarded him second place in the Goodyear Wingfoot Award standings for the strongest qualifier on the grid.
As a result, Jake will have six seconds of Hybrid power to use per lap in qualifying, giving up to an additional 30bhp when deployed, then in race one, Jake will be without the use of the full 15 seconds for six of the laps in race one. The amount of hybrid laps available for the remaining two races is then dependent on Jake’s finishing position in each of the previous races - the higher he finishes the fewer laps he will have to use in the subsequent race.
Heading to Croft, Jake looks forward to getting back behind the wheel of his WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport.
“Croft is a circuit I have fond memories with! Victory in 2021 with MB Motorsport and a few more trips to the podium has definitely made it one of my favourites on the calendar. We had a difficult time last time out at Oulton Park and that's left me extremely motivated to come to Croft and score some really strong points for myself and the team."
Mark Blundell, Sporting Director of ROKiT MB Motorsport, added:
“Making the trip up north to Croft has been successful in previous years and our aim is to continue that momentum into 2022. Jake seems to love it around this place so we're confident he and the team can deliver some great results this weekend. We had a tough trip to Oulton Park, so the aim is to bounce back this weekend and I know Jake and the team are extremely motivated to do exactly that."
