ROKiT MB Motorsport endure frustrating qualifying

June 11, 2022

ROKiT MB Motorsport will start from P15 in tomorrow's race one at Oulton Park after a frustrating qualifying session saw Jake Hill forced off the circuit before a red flag brought a premature end to the session.

Taking to the Oulton Park circuit for the first time in his WSR-run BMW 330e, Jake Hill spent the day's practice sessions getting up to speed and fine-tuning his setup.

Finishing the two sessions in P12 and P10 respectively, Jake looked to take a step forward in qualifying as he aimed to continue the form that has rewarded him front-row starts in the first three rounds of 2022.

Posting his fastest time of 1:26.076, Jake moved into P6 before being pushed down the order as the track began to evolve. Beginning his final run of fast laps, Jake started a flying lap before a competitor leaving the pits pushed Jake off the tarmac and across the grass - comprising his lap and forcing him into the pits.

Coming into the pits, the ROKiT MB Motorsport team quickly fixed his BMW 330e and sent him back out, before a red flag ended the session early.

“A frustrating day overall,” Jake said. “We spent the two practice sessions trying to get the car dialed in but heading into qualifying we knew there was still more performance to extract. I don't have too much to say about qualifying, my session was compromised by another driver which I couldn't have done anything about. Now we focus on tomorrow and we'll try to salvage the weekend with some good points. ”

Mark Blundell, Sporting Director of ROKiT MB Motorsport added:

“Not the result in qualifying we had hoped for heading to Oulton this weekend. Nothing that Jake could have done differently to avoid the car but that is motorsport sometimes. We know how strong he can be coming through the pack - so I have full confidence in his racing ability to score some good points for the team tomorrow.”

Coverage tomorrow begins at 12:10 on ITV for races one and two - starting at 12:20 and 14:25 respectively. Coverage switches back to the usual ITV4 for the final race of the day at 17:10 - alongside continuing coverage on ITV Hub. Live timing will also be available for all sessions via TSL-Timing.com
