After a five-week summer break, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square heads north west to Oulton Park as the 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship resumes in the Cheshire countryside.
During the last round before the summer break at Brands Hatch, the team displayed excellent resilience at their home circuit to battle through from the back of the grid following misfortune - with Jake Hill and Ollie Jackson both fighting their way through the order throughout the day.
Turning their attention to Oulton Park, the team look forward to returning to the scene of their first-ever BTCC podium finish just under 12 months ago, where Jake mastered the changeable conditions to rise from sixth on the grid to third place at the chequered flag.
After three events and nine races so far in 2021, the team have claimed four visits to the rostrum and occupy second place in the Manufacturers Championship alongside Motorbase Performance and seventh place in the overall Teams standings.
Hosting a capacity crowd for the first time in two years, Oulton Park is one of the championship’s most-loved circuits. The 2.26-mile Island configuration plays host to the action and will see cars fire through corners such as Old Hall, Knickerbrook and Druids.
The weekend looks set to be mild and cloudy, with the potential for some small showers to play their hand in the weekend’s action.
Ollie Jackson - #48 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“After a few weeks break, I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel this weekend. The batteries are recharged, the determination is as high as ever and I’m ready to go. We’ve shown we have the pace so far this season, we just need the weekend to fall our way so we can maximise that. It’ll also be brilliant to see the edge of the track lined with fans once again - it’s been far too long!
Jake Hill - #24 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“It’s been a long five weeks but here we are! I’m delighted we get to welcome back a full crowd this weekend, the fans really make the championship what it is so it’s brilliant we get to share it with you all once again. Last year, Oulton Park really marked the start of our season with the team’s first podium - I’m hoping we can put on another good showing this time around.”
Mark Blundell - Sporting Director, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“The team have enjoyed a well-earned break after a busy start to the season but we’re all raring to go again this weekend. I have no doubt in my mind that Jake and Ollie will be giving it their all and I look forward to another set of strong results. Hopefully we’ll be celebrating some more silverware on Sunday evening!”
