MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square are thrilled to be back on track this week at the two-day Goodyear tyre test at Snetterton Circuit, across the 7th and 8th of July.
It will mark the first running for the team since the successful season launch event in March and will kickstart the team’s delayed maiden campaign in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship ahead of the season opener at Donington next month.
Across the two days, all three of the team’s drivers will get behind the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R. Jake Hill and Sam Osborne take to the track on Tuesday with Esmee Hawkey, the team’s Official Development Driver, joining Sam on Wednesday. It will provide Jake and Sam with the opportunity to reacquaint themselves with the car and present Esmee with her first-ever taste of BTCC machinery.
After a sixteen week track hiatus, the official two-day test provides only the team's second official outing on track alongside its fellow BTCC competitors as attention turns to the new season drawing ever closer.
Shaun Hollamby, Team Principal, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“After such a long wait, it’s fantastic to finally get going again. Hearing the cars roar into life back at base was music to my ears and all that’s left is to get them out on track, which we’re all really looking forward to. We are also delighted that we can give Esmee the opportunity for her first run in the car which will be a fantastic experience for her.”
Mark Blundell, Sporting Director, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“It’s been a strange few months as we weathered the storm of the global situation so it’s great for the team to be back up and running as we prepare for the start of the season. The test will allow us to refocus on our expectations for the year and make sure we are as ready as possible for whatever the season may bring our way.”
Jake Hill, #24 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Honda Civic Type R:
“I’m so excited to be back behind the wheel properly after such a long wait. We showed some great performance at Silverstone in March but this week will be about trying out a few things and getting the blood pumping again before we head to Donington.”
Sam Osborne, #6 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Honda Civic Type R:
“After such a positive start at Silverstone, it’s great to be able to get back to the job at hand. I’m keen to get as much mileage under my belt as possible as I’m still new to the team so there’s plenty to learn about the car and our processes ahead of the season starting. It’s all about building confidence in both myself and the car which will make sure we are as prepared as we can be when we arrive at Donington.”
Esmee Hawkey, #42 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square, Official Development Driver:
“I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R. It’ll be my first time in a FWD car so there’s a lot of learning to do but I’m up for the challenge and look forward to working with the team and broadening my experiences. I’m looking forward to working with the whole team and being involved in the whole operation of a front-running BTCC team.”
