As the 2020 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads to Oulton Park for the third round of the season, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square are aiming to build their momentum further following a brace of top-ten finishes at Brands Hatch.
Having demonstrated strong qualifying results and race pace so far this season, the team visit the Cheshire circuit looking to convert this potential into front-running results at a track which has proved a happy hunting ground for the FK2 Honda Civic Type R in recent years.
At Brands Hatch, Jake Hill qualified in an excellent fourth on the grid - a personal best for the 26-year-old - and Sam Osborne led the Jack Sears Trophy entrants in sixteenth after steadily improving his lap times throughout the day. From there Jake and Sam accrued a brace of top-ten finishes - one apiece - and both drivers are looking forward to maximising their results come Sunday afternoon this weekend.
Elsewhere, Official Development Driver Esmee Hawkey will once again be behind the wheel as she contests the third round of Porsche Carrera Cup GB. The 22-year-old has claimed four wins from four races in the Pro-Am category and is in sensational form with a brace of overall podium finishes as well.
Shaun Hollamby, Team Principal, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“We showed some great speed at Brands Hatch but again just didn’t have luck on our side. That said, I am a firm believer that you make your own luck so let’s hope that the hard work that Swindon have put into resolving these issues is rewarded. At points we had one of the fastest cars on the track so we’ll be aiming to keep that momentum going this weekend, especially as Oulton Park we’ve enjoyed a fair bit of success at previously.”
Mark Blundell, Sporting Director, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“We’ve had a rocky start to the year but the challenge is not to let that frustrate us. We have to head to Oulton with clear heads and focus on what is to come and not what has been. We had two top-ten finishes at Brands Hatch and the potential was there for more. We’re in a good position heading into this weekend and I’m excited to see what’s possible for Jake and Sam.”
Jake Hill, #24 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Honda Civic Type R:
“There were flashes of brilliance at Brands Hatch - Saturday morning and qualifying showed just what we can do but we know we need to be enjoying those types of feelings come Sunday afternoon. That is exactly what I am aiming for this weekend and I see no reason as to why we can’t - the potential for some really good results is definitely there.”
Sam Osborne, #4 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Honda Civic Type R:
“Picking up points finishes in both rounds so far has been a real confidence boost for me. I’m really pleased that I’m continually learning and improving and we’re seeing that in the results we’re achieving. There’s always scope for more as we saw last time at Brands Hatch but things just didn’t fall entirely in our favour out on track. But that gives us all the more reason to turn up to Oulton Park this weekend and give it our all once again.”
Esmee Hawkey, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Official Development Driver:
“It’s been an amazing start to the season with four wins from four. I’m in a really good place with the team and the car and that’s allowing me to extract the maximum I can each weekend. That will be no different this time around, I’m confident heading into the weekend and want to keep making an impact at the front of the field."
