As the 2020 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship advances to Brands Hatch GP for the second round of the season, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square are hoping for better fortunes following a difficult start to the year at Donington Park.
Determined to bounce back, the team head to their home circuit of Brands Hatch in confident mood with the circuit proving a historically positive event for both the team and the Honda Civic Type R chassis.
Coupled with drivers Jake Hill and Sam Osborne displaying excellent pace across the Donington weekend, with Jake qualifying in an impressive seventh place and Sam claiming his best ever qualifying and race results of twelfth and seventh respectively, the team are looking forward to hitting the track once again.
Elsewhere, Official Development Driver Esmee Hawkey will be looking to claim yet more silverware following her stunning season opener in Porsche Carrera Cup GB, where she secured a pair of Pro-Am victories and stood on the overall podium for the very first time when she took third place in the first race of the weekend.

“Hopefully we’ve had our fill of bad luck for the season now. Whilst we might not have got the results we were all hoping for, the way the guys rallied round is testament to the strong spirit and work ethic of the team. As both Sam and Jake demonstrated, we’ve got a very good package and I’m more than confident we’ll be able to get the most out of it this weekend, especially at our home track.”

“One of the most important skills in motorsport is the ability to learn and move forward. We can look at the pros and cons of last weekend and be confident that we’ve learnt from them as we head to Brands Hatch. The performance is there as we demonstrated with our pace on the Saturday so this weekend we’ll be aiming to make the most of that.”

“We’ll come back strong this weekend I’m sure. We’ve put Donington behind us and we know we have the speed to challenge for strong results. I’m so proud of the way the team pulled together to get me out on track for every race despite the odds being firmly stacked against us so hopefully I can repay them for all their work with a good weekend.”
Sam Osborne, #4 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Honda Civic Type R
“Despite everything that happened Donington was a really positive weekend all things considered. To get my both my best ever qualifying and race results showed that I have made a step forward. We just need that bit of luck on our side to keep us on the track. Nevertheless, we head into the weekend knowing what we’re capable of and wanting to get out there and show it once again.”
Esmee Hawkey, #42 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Honda Civic Type R
“Donington was a fantastic way to start the season. Two Pro-Am wins, a front-row performance in qualifying and my first overall podium was the perfect reward for all the hard work we’ve put in to get to this point. The aim for this weekend is to keep that going which I’m really looking forward to doing as Brands Hatch is my home circuit and I’ve got lots of fond memories of it!”
