Jake Hill and Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport head to Silverstone leading the Drivers' Championship as they look to contest the penultimate round of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship this weekend.
The team will head to the home of British Motorsport this week looking to continue their championship fighting form on the 1.64 mile National configuration of the circuit in their WSR-run BMW 330e. Silverstone has been a happy hunting ground for driver, Jake Hill and the MB Motorsport team, with the past three visits to the circuit seeing Jake claim 3 race wins, 4 podiums and a lap record to boot.
This season has seen Jake amass an impressive collection of 6 wins and 11 podiums to take the lead of the BTCC Drivers' Championship as he heads to Silverstone with a 9 point advantage over Tom Ingram in second place.
In the previous round at Donington, Jake Hill managed to seize the lead of the Drivers' championship as he secured a brace of third-place finishes alongside a fifth-place finish to take the fight to his championship rivals.
This weekend will see Jake Hill, in his WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, and the team has to skillfully manage his hybrid deployment once more with championship lead meaning he will have only 1 Secs/Lap of hybrid in qualifying, deployed at a minimum speed of 135 KPH, and five laps of hybrid to be used in the opening 22-lap race on Sunday.
All three races take place on Sunday, with live coverage available on TikTok, ITV4 and online at ITVX. Sunday’s triple header of races are scheduled to get underway at 11:30 (BST), 14.20 and 17.10 respectively. Live timing across the weekend is available here.
"I cannot wait to get back on track at Silverstone this weekend as the championship leader! It has been a circuit which we have always performed well at in the past with three victories and several trips to the podium, so I will be looking to replicate that success this weekend. We've made great progress as a team across the season and we need to continue this momentum as the season reaches its final two races with the championship at stake. With our position as the championship leader, we know that the hybrid allowance will have a big impact on qualifying and that opening race, but I am confident we have a great package which will allow us to maximise our performance out on track. This high level of performance will be crucial this weekend as we look to continue battling it out for the title and I'll be giving it everything out on track!" - Jake Hill
"This is a crucial weekend for the team with the title fight stepping up in intensity at the home of British Motorsport and also full of added pressure as the championship leader. Thanks to Jake and the team's endeavours both on and off the track, we are in a great position as the season reaches an exciting climax and as a result we’re leaving no stone unturned in our preparations for this weekend. I am fully confident we can deliver this weekend and I look forward to the upcoming on track action." - Mark Blundell
