Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport will be looking to continue the sublime winning momentum, that has seen them record four wins in the previous six races, as the team heads for Oulton Park to contest the fifth round of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.
One of the most popular events on the BTCC calendar, the picturesque Oulton Park is built into the natural contours of the landscape and regularly attracts huge crowds of more than 40,000 over the course of the race meeting.
Marking the final event before the BTCC’s annual mid-summer break in 2024, Oulton Park has been a happy hunting ground for Jake Hill and the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport team with last year's edition seeing Jake record two victories in the three races - Jake's first-ever double victory weekend in the BTCC.
The team heads for the Cheshire circuit this week on the back of a hot streak of form that saw Jake Hill record four wins in the previous six races - with double victories at both Snetterton and Thruxton. This fantastic run has elevated Jake to 2nd in the Drivers' Championship with 164 points - just 5 points adrift of the championship leader.
This weekend, Jake Hill, in his WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, and the team will have to manage his hybrid deployment with his 2nd place championship position meaning he will have just 3 Secs/Lap of hybrid in qualifying, deployed at a minimum speed of 135 KPH, with two laps of hybrid to be used in the opening 16-lap race on Sunday.
All three races take place on Sunday, with live coverage available on TikTok, ITV4 and online at ITVX. Sunday’s triple header of races are scheduled to get underway at 12.25 (BST), 14.40 and 17.25 respectively. Live timing across the weekend is available here.
"This weekend brings a fresh challenge with the Oulton Park circuit, which is completely different from the previous round at Thruxton. Our BMW 330e M-Sport has proven to be well-suited to this layout in the past, and I'm confident in our package, especially after our success here last year.
Oulton Park is a highlight of the year. The track is a lot of fun to drive but leaves very little margin for error. The hybrid allocation should have a bigger impact this weekend, so it's a factor we'll need to manage effectively. Navigating all stages of qualifying will be a challenge, but securing a good starting position is key to a strong Sunday.
The team has been doing a fantastic job this season, and we're still learning and improving every time we hit the track. We've been collecting great results so far this year, and I'm confident we can keep that form going." - Jake Hill
"We always look forward to Oulton Park, a circuit that brings big crowds and is a highlight of the BTCC calendar. Last year we had a great weekend with Jake scoring two wins, and with our recent form, we head there with a surge of confidence but remain fully aware of the challenge to extend our recent run of form.We are very proud of the way the team has performed so far this year and, as we reach the midway point of the season, we know there is no room for complacency and taking our recent results for granted. The championship is extremely tight and we must maintain our high level of performance in every department." - Mark Blundell
