Spurred on by the team’s maiden podium finish last weekend, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square are looking forward to building on their success as the 2020 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads north of the border to Knockhill.
During the team’s strong showing at Oulton Park, Jake Hill secured the team its very first podium and Sam Osborne scored points for the third weekend in succession - further highlighting the team’s improvement from weekend to weekend. With that in mind, hopes are high for another strong showing at Knockhill this weekend.
The Scottish circuit holds fond memories for Jake as the 26-year-old claimed his maiden BTCC success around the 1.27-mile track last year thanks to a dominating lights to flag victory. Jake currently has the fourth-best qualifying average of the entire grid and Sam has made up considerable ground in the Jack Sears Trophy, climbing from seventh to fifth in the standings to sit three points behind Carl Boardley in third place and 22 points behind leader Michael Crees.
In the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square development driver, Esmee Hawkey, is pushing for further success as she looks to strengthen her lead in the Pro-Am championship.
Shaun Hollamby, Team Principal, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“We were very pleased with how the weekend went in Oulton Park and are very keen to keep that going at Knockhill. The double header asks a lot of the guys and girls in the team so another good weekend would serve as a massive thank you for all their hard work and commitment.”
Mark Blundell, Sporting Director, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square:
“I was delighted for the team, our partners and all of our fans to score our very first podium as an outfit. It shows we definitely have the potential to push for more and that is exactly what we are aiming for this weekend. Morale is high and that can only spur us on even more.”
Jake Hill, #24 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Honda Civic Type R:
“To tick that first podium of the season off was a great feeling and I’m hungry for more this weekend. I’ve got some great memories from last year around here so I’ll be putting all of that experience into this weekend to try to enjoy similar success this time around. It’s a brilliant track and I can’t wait to get the weekend started.”
Sam Osborne, #4 MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square Honda Civic Type R:
“As a team, we’re beginning to fire on all cylinders right now and we are looking to go from strength to strength. I’ve scored points in each round so far but I’m determined to push on this year and I feel really motivated heading into Knockhill. I made some good progress in the Jack Sears last weekend and that’s my aim again this time around.”
Esmee Hawkey, MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square, Official Development Driver
“Carrying over the penalty from Brands Hatch meant that Oulton was always going to be a case of damage limitation for me. Being taken out of the second race certainly didn’t help with that but I know in myself that I have the speed to make up for it. After a disappointing weekend, I am really glad that we are getting straight back to it and I’m firmly focused on getting back to where we want to be!”
