Donington Park kickstarts ROKiT MB Motorsport's 2022 campaign

April 21, 2022

ROKiT MB Motorsport are raring to go ahead of this weekend’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season-opener at Donington Park, where the championship enters an exciting new era of competition.

Following a positive winter programme, in which ROKiT MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill wasted little time in getting up to speed behind the wheel of his new WSR-operated BMW 330e M Sport, as he claimed the second fastest time overall at the official Season Launch at Thruxton last week.

Embarking on a new era of touring car racing, the new season will mark the first for the BTCC to utilise hybrid power. As the first major touring car championship in the world to make the leap to hybrid technology, the BTCC remains at the forefront of technical innovation - with an all-new Hybrid Energy Management system providing drivers with up to 15 seconds additional power in any one lap.

The BTCC’s new dawn will begin at Donington Park this weekend - with the 1.98-mile National circuit setting the scene for the season ahead.

Buoyed by a strong showing at the official Season Launch earlier in the month, Jake is full of confidence and keen to get his campaign underway.

“I’ve been desperate for the season to start ever since we wrapped up last year so I’m really excited to get going this weekend,” Jake said. “Our winter programme went well and that’s a real confidence boost as you head into a new season. Donington is a great circuit to race at with some fast and sweeping corners and I’m looking forward to getting back out there in the BMW.”

Echoing Jake’s thoughts, Mark Blundell, Sporting Director of ROKiT MB Motorsport also looks ahead to a positive opening weekend.“With such a raft of changes to the rulebook, I believe this is one of the most anticipated starts to a season for a long time. There’s a lot to look forward to this season and I for one can’t wait to see the lights go out for the opening race. I’m very confident that the team will put on a strong showing and I know that Jake will be as determined as ever in the cockpit.”

Coverage of the weekend’s action will be available across the ITV network - with Saturday’s qualifying available to watch online at itv.com/btcc from 15:25. An action-packed schedule of racing on Sunday will be live throughout the day on ITV4 and ITV Hub from 10:50. Live timing will also be available for all sessions via TSL-Timing.com.
