Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport are set to contest the eighth round of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship this weekend as the series returns to Donington Park for the second time in 2024 and this time to tackle the GP configuration.
The team will head to the Derbyshire circuit this week looking to continue their championship fighting form on the 2.49-mile GP configuration of the Donington Park circuit. Last year, the championship returned to the Donington Park GP circuit for the first time since 2002 and Jake Hill was able to record a double podium scoring weekend - collecting a second, third and eighth place finish across the three races.
Last time out in Scotland, Jake Hill managed to greatly reduce the gap in the title fight from 21 points at the start of the weekend down to just three points heading to Donington Park this weekend. This was thanks to a strong qualifying performance and race day that saw Jake outscore his main championship rivals with a brace of fifth-place finishes and his sixth victory of the 2024 season.
The weekend will see Jake Hill, in his WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, and the team having to carefully manage his hybrid deployment once again with his 2nd place championship position meaning he will have only 3 Secs/Lap of hybrid in qualifying, deployed at a minimum speed of 135 KPH, and two laps of hybrid to be used in the opening 14-lap race on Sunday.
All three races take place on Sunday, with live coverage available on TikTok, ITV4 and online at ITVX.
Sunday’s triple header of races are scheduled to get underway at 11:30 (BST), 14.35 and 17.25 respectively. Live timing across the weekend is available here.
"I’m really excited to be heading to Donington Park this weekend and taking on the GP configuration! We had a great weekend there last season with a brace of podiums so the goal this weekend is to replicate that success and more importantly outscore my championship rivals.
We've made great progress throughout the season and enjoyed a strong weekend in Scotland last time out which puts us in a great place heading into this weekend.
With the hybrid allowance, we know that qualifying and that opening race will be a challenge but we managed to overcome that at Knockhill and extracted everything out of our package. We need to continue that high level of performance this weekend to stay battling it out for the title and I'm fully confident we can do exactly that." - Jake Hill
"This point in the season is always thrilling, and being in contention for the Drivers' championship once again adds even more drive for everyone in the team. Our performance has stepped up with each round, thanks to Jake and the team's relentless effort. We’re leaving no stone unturned, and that hard work is paying off. I’m confident we’ve got a strong package for this weekend." - Mark Blundell
