MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square are delighted to share the news that the British Touring Car Championship has formally published its rescheduled 2020 season calendar. The new nine round race calendar will see Donington Park play host to the season-opener across the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of August. The season will now extend later into the year with Brands Hatch hosting the season finale across the 14th and 15th of November.
As with all other major sporting events, the BTCC season has been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic with today’s news providing a welcomed positive update for the series’ loyal and passionate fan base. It is of course important to note that the rescheduled calendar remains subject to the official Government directives surrounding social gatherings and that decisions surrounding the presence of spectators at each meeting will be directed accordingly.
The rescheduled calendar is the result of a great deal of work between the Championship, its promoters, venues and its broadcast partner - ITV. Alongside the publication of its rescheduled 2020 season calendar, the BTCC has confirmed that all rounds of the season will be publicised live on the ITV Network as per its original planning. This confirmation is a welcome update for the series’ millions of spectators, commercial partners and teams and drivers alike.
Attention now for the MB Motorsport team turns to picking up where they left off after a successful pre-season testing programme. Management duo Shaun Hollamby and Mark Blundell have welcomed today’s news and would like to place on record their thanks to all those involved in getting to this stage as well as to the team’s supporters, staff and commercial partners for their continued patience.
Shaun Hollamby - Team Principal, MB Motorsport
“The unveiling of the Championship’s rescheduled season calendar is a nice landmark for us all that a more positive road lies ahead. We have all faced challenges across the past few months and motorsport has been no exception. The fact that we are now able to work to a timeline is a very positive update and hopefully we will see the continued improvements across the whole situation so we can all look forward to the 1st August at Donington Park. On behalf of the whole team, I'd like to share our thanks to all the key workers on the front line who continue to make sacrifices daily for the benefit of us all.”
Mark Blundell - Sporting Director, MB Motorsport
“Today’s news is gladly welcomed by all associated with MB Motorsport accelerated by Blue Square. While there is no doubt that there are hurdles that we are yet to overcome, we hope that today’s news can provide something that many can look forward to which is important in this current moment too.
